Do you ever wonder where your two year old is when everything gets very quiet. Well, most of the time Harper is in a room using the bathroom in her princess panties. I guess I am lucky because I know when she goes. But see that is the thing I usually don't catch her in time. In fact, the day these pictures were taken I realized late as usual (that is the story of my life) that she might be going to the bathroom where she shouldn't and as I walk to her room screaming I'm sure it wasn't anything too bad!?!?! I openned the door and this is what Harper said - "MOOOOOMMM I'm just readin . . . . " OK, so that was my sweet unexpected surprise that should last for a while.

I found this dress to try and bride Harper to use the potty. She has been doing great but sometimes she cant get a hold of the dreaded number two. So, I thought this would be a great economical way to get it done. An unexpected surprise a few weeks ago was a pretty good snow for Alabama one morning around 9 am. It was great to show the kids something they have never seen before. We did not stay out long as Jackson realized that snow is very COLD and wet! I think Harper was more excited about her Krispy Kreme than the snow. Just like her mom.

We loved getting away after Christmas for a much needed break. Jackson loved playing on the beach and did not want to leave. Harper one the other hand did not like the sand at all. Harper looked so pretty in her Christmas dress that mommy had to get a picture with her! Jackson was all consummed with the nativity that some sweet ladies in our church made for the chapel. He really wanted to play with it and did not understand why baby Jesus was breakable. My only response was that ours wasn't but some peoples are.

We had more fun at Moo Moo's house with all of our cousins. We missed sweet Allison who was at home sick. Can you believe how big our family is now? What a cool city we have. We have never experienced Zoolight Zafari and since we are members we decided to go the friday before Christmas - another one of our new traditions. It was wonderful. The first performance of my first born. The day was very exciting- no pressure but surely my son will be sweet, enthusiastic and sing every song with joy in his heart! Right. Wrong. He was the ONLY one not singing or paying attention and his sweet friend next to him, Gram, bless his heart was pestered by Jackson the entire performance. All we could do was laugh with great joy that he was all ours!

Getting ready for Christmas

I thought it would be a great idea to start a tradition of making a gingerbread house with the kids. Ours was a little sad but it has stayed until mid January. The pills holding it up are from Dan's neck surgery - so we where very resourceful!!! Right before Christmas Jackson came home with several different art projects from school. One night Harper and Jackson played for almost an hour woth the reindeer and Indian ones. They were too cute and I wish I had it on video because of what they were saying!

Portrait Day

The day started like all others- screams and tears. But this day the children, my beautiful children were to be dressed in their best and smile their best for our annual pictures. Jackson was to wear his daddy's sailor suit that was worn when he was three and a similar one by his grandaddy at three too. How cool right? And Harper wore a beautiful hand sewn dress so thoughtfully borrowed from a dear friend (thanks JP!) The weather freezing and overcast and to get there bribes and candy were packed. The whole time I thought if I can get Jackson to behave I will be golden. WRONG! Jackson was a delight and Little Devil Harper was in tears for the first 30 minutes (I wont tell you how much that cost!) But, by the end the day due to the patience of the photographer and the grace of God we have some wonderful memories of a day that began with tears and ended with tears - from Mommy.

What a nice party. Allison was so sweet. The twins were so big helping baby sis blow out her candles. Harper almost ruined it with a fierce temper tantrum that had mommy sitting outside most of the time. The last picture was the last time she was happy. Go figure?

Although there aren't any pictures of Scarecrows or "Scary Crows" as Jackson calls them we did go to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens with the cousins. I had more fun watching the three boys run around and see Harper try to keep up with them. Sweet Allison was safe in her stroller and cool as a cucumber!

Cookies for the Fire Fighters

We went to Moo Moo's house a few weeks ago for cousin Allison's first birthday and had a wonderful time outside of Harper not eating much at all. The first thing Jackson and Moo Moo did was make cookies for the Firemen done the street. He was so excited but when we delivered them he became very shy and barely got in the new Firetruck with Mom and Sissy. This is why there are no pictures of the Firehouse.

As soon as I write this we have in fact purchased an additional Red Power Ranger costume, equipped with muscles and a blaster. I think out of 8 boys in Jackson's class 7 are going to be Power Rangers. I believe the other lad is going to be a wiggle? Harper may be an Auburn cheerleader like her cousin instead of a fairy. She doesn't much care for all of the hoopla.

We love Aunt Mimi and Uncle Papa! Otherwise known as Linda and Steve. They invited us to the Auburn game last weekend and we decided take the whole family!! We set ourselves up for the lowest expectations and we did pretty well. We had so much fun seeing our cousin Brooke - new Auburn cheerleader!! Getting pictures made with her was great. Harper and Jackson had a blast playing in the Moon bounces with all the other Aubie disciples. Although it was a long day, it rained and Auburn played rather lousy it was quite a treat to experience "life on the plains" on a humid Saturday in August. I feel like I need to say something like God bless football or God save the SEC- I'll leave it at this - What a joy to be around family!

Beach Trip

Ok, it has been a while. This August we went down to Orange Beach thanks to dear friends of ours, The Henrys. Our good friend Susan went with us to experience Team Avery at its worst and best. I think there was more good than bad this trip. We had fun getting ready for the cool pool and "lady river" (its really a lazy river but Jackson likes to call it a Lady?) Daddy purchased everyone a prize, mommy got a kite and we flew it until we all passed out! The best was trying to take a picture of Harper at the pool. You can see how humid it was with the foggy picture. All in all it was nice to get away with friends and family. Also, we came up with over 100 movies with a proper name in the title. Beat that!

NYC

I had the opportunity to go to New York with one of my teachers, Angel Stevens, for a dance convention a few weeks ago. We had a wonderful time. We stayed right next to Grand Central Station and also right next to the steam explosion that happened a few days before we got there. Needless to say it did not hamper our trip. It was Angels first time in the city so we walked everywhere and tried to experience everything. See the picture of her first experience with street vendor food. It was excellent!!! I have more pictures but they all seem to be of police cars, fire engines and ambulances for my three year old. Funny what seems important when you have kids.

OK, so "I Love America" day in Vestavia was a hit. Jackson was all consummed with the moon bounce and slide. After much trepidation he willingly stood in line, climbed up (by himself) and slid down; enjoying every minute of it and the rest of the night. He was so proud as were his parents on his "big boy, I'm going all by myself!!!" attitude. We barely got out at 8:45pm before the movie Cars started. I wonder if he will like fireworks?

Bob and the Wind Tunnel

NBA Playoffs

OK so it is pretty sad when you are posting about basketball, but it is a long dry summer as Team Avery has very little interest in Baseball. So, here goes. When we went to the beach BaBa got Jackson a build bear which he affectionately calls "brown bear". I was good to just get the bear, but no Ba wanted outfits - so what kind of outfit do we get - basketball of course. I really wanted a Phoenix suns jersey in honor of Steve Nash, but since we were in Florida we settled on the Heat- I kind of dig Dwayne Wade so it was alright.

Birthday Presents

One of Jackson's favorite presents is his Auburn football kit. Helmet, Jersey, Pants and Football! How fun- especially when he trys to tackle Sissy. Harper's gift was mommy's realization that bows are a fact of life when you are a girl in the South- and the bigger the better. I have to say I held off for an entire year - no Velcro bows!!! But, I have to admit I love her in them. Is that so bad. I don't care.

He had so much fun playing and when it was time for cake and ice cream Jackson decided it was also time to strip down to his diaper . . . I think I got "spring break 07 guys gone wild" on the video. Priceless!

We had so much fun celebrating Harper! Kristin, my sister took these pictures along with 75 more of Harper and her first cake experience. Thanks Krissy! Harper was a lot like Jackson with her cake. She did not really want to get too dirty. My favorite is the one with her daddy. Their is nothing like that relationship!!!

Ok so I am not the best blogger in the family. We all know who that is. Mollie, please tell me how you are so good?!?!?! A lot, has happened- Birthday celebrations - three in Team Avery's immediate family and an untimely death in my extended family. All this to say- family is very important and we should all do what we can to let people know how we feel. I am going to try and be better about that, for Wes, so here goes . . . .

I feel lucky some days and others I don't feel that much.

These are my favorites right now. THe first was taken on the train at the Zoo. One of Jacksons favorite places! Thanks Ba and Bee for renewing our membership this year. The one of Harper was taken at church- it was baptism recognition Sunday. Team Avery is pretty faithful to the 8:30 service, and has you would assume we were the only family to go forward at the early service. The extra attention given was wonderful and made Harper and her proud parents feel very special. Today I feel lucky.

Jackson's new thing is to get Sister involved in all of his high jinx- "SissY play with ME!" Usaully it ends up with Sissy screaming and Jackson sitting on top of her but I like to think of it as brotherly love- just to get through the day. He really is starting to include her in all sorts of thoughts and it is touching to see that he realizes he is part of a bigger community than just himself!

Harper turned one a few days ago. I don't have pictures from her party up yet but I couldn't resist these. She is pure joy - even when she is sick. What is with double ear infections when team avery turns one? Yes - we are still pulling for Duke even though they have fallen off the map (Harpe's pink homage) Miracles happen especially in March - hey Saban (is that how you spell it) came to Bama-
